NASTY WOMEN REVIVE 2022
Nasty Women London, Women of the Wick and Open House Hackney are pleased to announce a joint collaboration to mark and celebrate International Women’s Day and International Women’s History Month on Saturday 19th - Sunday 20th March 2022.
The group exhibition “Nasty Women Revive” features 30 artists exploring the themes of diversity, intersectionality, visual protest, resistance, and more at the Open House Hackney upstairs Workshop space in Hackney Wick.
The local multimedia platform Women of the Wick (www.womenofthewick.com) will host a panel discussion on Art = Feminism followed by a queer and female-only identified poetry night on Saturday 19th.
On the 19th of March, the celebration will culminate in the popular Women’s Gong Bath night led by sound artist Sunita Kaur at the Open House Hackney. Through the healing practices of sound and movement, Sunita invites everyone to get in touch with their feminine side and energy.
During the two-day programme, the collaborators will host and facilitate a space where the community will come together to experience, share and explore solidarity and sisterhood through visual art, poetry and sound. Together, the aim is to celebrate the achievements and work of female-identified artists, enhance a sense of belonging and draw the focus on the existing gender inequalities in the creative industry.
“It has been a great honour to curate this huge come back event. Artists worldwide have been eager to take part in this exhibition. After years of being apart, we REUNITE, making it the Nastiest Exhibition yet!!! Artists will be gaining a voice through a range of different media, shouting from the rooftops with a range of concepts- revealing the challenges we face in society today. Diversity at its finest, and artworks that are all very empowering.”
